Thermal Imaging: A Closer Look. http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/thermal-imaging-a-closer-look/ http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/thermal-imaging-a-closer-look/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:53:10 +0000 Administrator Thermal Imaging http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/thermal-imaging-a-closer-look/ Thermal imaging is basically the science of being able to detect objects in your immediate environment based solely on temperature gauging. Thermal imaging devices come in very handy at night, as they can perceive an object or being regardless of light; they perceive based on the object’s temperature exclusively. Most people invest in a thermal imaging binocular or monocular for hunting at night, as they can pick out their prey easily. We offer the features of one of our most popular thermal imaging devices below-Newcon Optik’s Infra Red 3x TVS-7B Thermal Image Binoculars-as an example of what thermal imaging can do for you.
• 3X magnification.
• Built-in low noise electro magnetic scanner.

• Best temperature range between –40C to 55C.
• Optimum quality optics.
• High resolution and image quality.

Spotting Scopes: What Are They? http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/spotting-scopes-what-are-they/ http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/spotting-scopes-what-are-they/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:52:28 +0000 Administrator Spotting Scopes http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/spotting-scopes-what-are-they/ So…you know what binoculars are…you know what telescopes are… what exactly is a spotting scope? And moreover, what do you use it for? A spotting scope is basically the traveling and terrestrial version of the telescope. It combines the portability and convenience of a pair of binoculars and the optical prowess/quality of a telescope; to allow for the best on-the-go land viewing. Spotting scopes typically are used for hiking, birding, hunting, and activities when a good sight would come in handy where a big device would not. Here is a list below of the determining characteristics and features of a quality spotting scope:
• Magnification specs are typically 20X-60X.
• Variable zoom eyepiece and/or extra eyepieces for versatile up-close viewing.
• Rugged design-typically armored construction with weatherproofing.
• Extra long eye relief for comfortable duration viewing.
• Low weight and small size for the most convenient of bring-anywhere capability.

Why a Monocular? http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/why-a-monocular/ http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/why-a-monocular/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:51:25 +0000 Administrator Monoculars http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/why-a-monocular/ Most people have a pair of binoculars for the general experience that may come up; whether it be hiking, sightseeing, a baseball game in the nosebleed section, or a night at the opera. Binoculars come in handy, but few understand what monoculars are and why these optical instruments might suit them better. Basically; the monocular is a smaller, lighter version of the binocular that has one eyepiece instead of two, and fits in a pocket, purse, etc much easier. Check out one of our most versatile and popular monocular models-Audubon 6×16 Monocular XLT-below for more info on why a quality monocular might be the better choice for your pursuits.
• 6X16 specs allow for extra wide field of view and focus.

• Weighs only 2.2 oz.
• Focus range allows for high resolution detail viewing from as close as 3 feet away, without compromising distance viewing capabilities.
• Super compact construction for easy carry in pocket or purse.
• Includes neck strap and belt loop attachment for easy portability.
• Includes carrying case for protection while not in use.
• Comes in three fun colors: blue, yellow, and charcoal.

Buying my first Radar Detector. http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/buying-my-first-radar-detector/ http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/buying-my-first-radar-detector/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:42:59 +0000 RhondaOptics Radar Detectors http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/buying-my-first-radar-detector/ After buying my first brand new car I knew I was going to need a radar detector. Hi, I’m Rhonda, an employee at Opticsale.com. Opticsale and the manufacturers have provided me with great training on all of our products. Whistler one of the many vendors we work with, known for their outstanding radar detectors was my choice for a radar retector.

I decided to do some research on the Whistler XTR series. I looked at the Whistler XTR 220, XTR 260, and the newest model of them all the Whistler XTR 690 Radar Laser Detector. Well the XTR 220 comes with a remote for people that drive an SUV or a minivan where it’s hard to safely reach the windshield while driving to change modes. The XTR 260 has Total Band Protection and has Patented VG-2 Cloaking Technology. The XTR 690 comes with a digital compass on the screen. For me that’s something that would be very helpful because my sense of direction is horrible.

I finally decided on the XTR 690 and I love it. It has kept me from numerous tickets. As a matter of fact I was on my way home the first night I bought it and I was 4 blocks away from the police officer and my radar detector went off. I loved it so much that I bought one for my boyfriend for Christmas, but HIS problem is going under the speed limit. I guess opposites attract.

Since then many of our friends and families have come in to purchase one and they are flying off the shelves. It has been one of very few of my worth while purchases.

Great sporting binoculars for hockey. http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/great-sporting-binoculars-for-hockey/ http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/great-sporting-binoculars-for-hockey/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 19:35:00 +0000 StacyOptics Binoculars http://site.opticsale.com/blog2/2008/03/21/great-sporting-binoculars-for-hockey/ I love hockey. Hello my name is Stacy and I’m a full time employee at Opticsale.com. Going to professional Hockey games is one of my favorite activities. I have season tickets and I sit 16 rows away from the ice but sometimes it’s very hard to see what’s going on at the other end. I decided to put some thought into purchasing some binoculars. There are so many brands to choose from.
I have heard great things about many different vendors (Alpen, Barska, Bushnell, etc.) There are specific binoculars made for going to sporting events, concerts, the opera, and many more.
I was more interested in the fixed focus binoculars, which means that they are already focused you don’t need to do anything besides move your head.
I did a lot of research and decided to purchase a pair of Alpen binoculars (Model # 340). The 7×35 magnification was perfect for my hockey games.
After making my purchase I was not sure if I had made the right choice, the only way to tell was to use them. I couldn’t wait for the next game so I could use my new Alpen binoculars.
When the Game started I reached underneath my seat and grabbed my new Alpen binoculars and immediately started using them. As soon as the puck was dropped a crazy fight broke out and I could see everything including the words they were saying.
You better watch out Hockey players because I could see everything now.
